cPro graphical list

Should I make a website based version?

What do I care?

I am considering making the graphical list I have made in the dark ages of years ago into a website version.

Light php and mysql so I can add it via phpmyadmin.

It has certainly come to my attention that it is REALLY out of date. I lack SEVERAL, and might start all over collecting the list, since I have lost track of what is in it and what not.

What do you guys think?

Also, should I categorise the list?

Example:
  • Simple
  • Minimalistic
  • Creative
  • Themed
  • Eye Candy

Don´t be dissapointed but there isn´t much people around last months... Maybe with holidays approaching some will come back.
The good thing is that there is "a lot" of people every day "sightseeing" the site. So it´s still good to do anything that they can see here.

Oh, I have noticed. Might be why I am asking instead of just doing it.

I just feel like alle the skins are scattered all over the place. Hmm... think I might do this now.

WIP... as some might see. When I am done, I need help for maintaining the site.

Then I will need:
- username
- password (made into md5 with this-> http://www.phpbbhacks.com/md5.php)

Eyyy! 2 things:
1- I didn´t read that you were going to do it in HTML/PHP!! You´ll still be able to export it as an image? Because I think that way would be more suittable for promotion on other sites, like the older, in any case you can add the url in description.
2- Just one little thing.. English is not my native language but I think that maybe VISUAL would be better than GRAPHICAL, don´t you think? Besides "visual" sounds modernistic, more stylish.

1. export what as an image?
2. The name will be different... I am thinking "cPro - Skin library".

1- Export the hole list, so you can have a big graphic file with all the cPro skins. Like the older one.
I think having it all together in a visual list is cool to make someone "tempted" to download more skins, instead of browsing throug pages and pages wich is quite similar to the list on Skinconsortium..
2- That´s nicer, I like more than "graphical"!

Yep, for promotional purposes mainly. Maybe one with the new ones, and one with the complete list..

Just say if you want help populating the list on the website when its complete.
We'll put a link to the website where people can download the skins on the cpro page too :)

PS: Just finished setting up the SVN and getting all the programming files up and running again :D Hopefully some skinning soon!

Truth be told, it kinda went down the drain because of a lack of interest.

I might be taking it up again. Still have the files for the site (or at least I think so) :)

Maybe you can finsh up the cpro1 adding the extra couple that may be out there (I can recall mines, victorbarac´s and veroka´s) and begin slowly with the cpro2 list, reeeally slowly since there isn´t too much skins yet!

*bump*

I finally found out what to do with the graphical list.

I am going to make a website (surprise)... but where I am the only moderator (until I decide otherwise, or have time to code a site).

The site, will be merely a collage, where a click on a skin will send you to a subpage, with info, and most crucial... AUTHOR.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't invest THAT much time (amount of skins is huge!), why don't you use something like Pinterest? (http://www.pinterest.com) It fits your needs accurately ; good looking collage in HTML & sub-page with details PLUS; versatility, new entries are easy to add and it can even help Skin Consortium by filling one of the social webs we can't really cover now (it may become sort of an "official skin list").

Even Flickr would do to that matter, have you seen their interface lately? It really looks great!

On that note. The website is complete, just needs populating :)

I have done the graphical list once before. That took ages upon ages of time. This will go so much faster, and is easier to maintain. It is meant as a marketing tool for ClassicPro :)

The colours I stole from this site to make it more... streamlined.

I will take a look at the resources, when I get back from Hamburg. Thank you Victhor :)

Are you loading the skins one by one? Just a little details pointing so you don´t have to re-do:

- "Compatibility" instead of "Combability"
- I would go for "Color themes" instead of "themes", it could be confusing ("theme" is a word more related to Windows themes).

And in case you don´t know.. DeviantArt allows hotlinking of their images, so maybe you can use those promos to enhance the preview´s pages.. just an idea ;)
